Virtual
environments
for IT training
and workshops

We design, configure and deliver ready-to-use training environments. Every participant gets a dedicated virtual machine with the right operating system, the tools they need and the course materials. Access is through a web browser or over SSH, with no additional software to install.

/ SCOPE OF SERVICE

An environment built around your training scenario

Every project starts from the training programme and the exercise scenario. Together with the instructor, we choose the right technologies, software versions and configuration. Based on what we agree, we prepare a reference machine, test it and hand it over for acceptance. Once the configuration is approved, we create a separate, identically configured workstation for every participant.

Standardised training workstations

Every machine replicates the configuration approved by the instructor. The environment can include ready-made scripts, repositories, exercise materials and any libraries and tools you specify. We scale the number of workstations and the resources allocated to them to suit both small-group courses and larger events.

An isolated environment for testing and demonstrations

A single virtual machine can serve as a safe working environment for a developer, instructor or consultant. It lets you try out new tools, prepare demonstrations and verify configurations without touching your local operating system.

/ HOW IT WORKS

A controlled process for preparing your training environment

You do not need a full infrastructure specification at the outset. To prepare a proposal, all we need is the course programme, the number of participants and the technologies involved. From there, we design the environment and flag any points that need the instructor's decision. Before environments are launched for the whole group, the instructor tests the reference machine. This confirms that the configuration is correct and lets us eliminate any problems in advance.

  1. Requirements analysis

We translate the course programme and exercise scenario into specific technical requirements. From these, we define the environment's architecture, the number and specification of the machines, software versions, the scope of permissions and how network communication will work.

  2. Building the reference workstation

We prepare a reference virtual machine to the agreed specification. We install and configure the required components, create user accounts and make available the repositories and materials needed to deliver the training.

  3. Acceptance testing

The instructor works through the full exercise scenario on the reference machine using participant permissions. Once any discrepancies have been resolved, the configuration is approved for deployment.

  4. Environment launch

Once the final configuration has been accepted, we launch the required number of identically prepared workstations. Before handing over the access details, we check that all services are working correctly and that every machine is ready for use.

  5. Supervision during the class

Throughout the class, we monitor workstation availability and resource usage. Where needed, we provide remote support or restore an individual machine to its reference state without affecting the work of the other participants.

  6. A secure wind-down

When the training ends, we deactivate access and permanently delete the environments. Any materials to be kept are exported beforehand, in the agreed format and scope.

/ CONNECTION METHODS

Ways to access the training environment

Remote desktop in the browser

The remote desktop session runs directly in a web browser. There is no need to install a dedicated client or the software used in the exercises. This is particularly useful on company computers where users have restricted permissions.

SSH from the terminal

Connecting with a standard SSH client gives you direct access to the virtual machine's system shell. You can run commands, transfer files and tunnel ports without needing any additional graphical interface.

/ ACCESS PORTAL

A portal for working with the training environment

The portal brings together access to the assigned machine, file handling, communication and supporting tools. Participants carry out all the key tasks without switching between extra applications, within the permissions they have been granted.

  • Sessions in the browser

The remote desktop and the terminal are available in the same interface. Several sessions can run side by side, and their layout is kept when you reopen the portal.

  • Easy resource sharing

The built-in file manager lets you upload, download and organise materials on the assigned machine without a separate login or an extra client.

  • Help and collaboration

Group chat, private messages and a help channel are available without leaving the environment. The instructor can share an active session with the group and hand control to a chosen person.

  • Self-service machine management

Participants can start, stop or restart their assigned machine, as well as save and restore its state.

  • Supporting materials to hand

Notes pinned to the workstation and a private command library help participants keep their context and move smoothly between the stages of the exercises.

  • Security

Each participant works in an isolated environment and sees only the resources assigned to them. When the engagement ends, all data is deleted automatically.

/ ISOLATION AND SECURITY

Isolation, access control and security in the training environment

Exercises that involve installing packages, managing services, changing the system configuration or working with administrator privileges take place in a separate environment. As a result, they leave the configuration of the participant's own computer untouched.

The scope of permissions and the network communication rules are always derived from the training scenario. Participants can reach only the resources they need to complete the exercises, with no way to interfere with the infrastructure management layer.

  • Workstation isolation

Changes made on one virtual machine stay isolated and do not affect the other participants' workstations. Shared resources such as a cluster, a database or a repository are set up only when the course programme calls for them.

  • Permissions matched to the task

We choose the permission model to fit the tasks being carried out. A participant can be given a standard account, sudo privileges or access to the root account. Administrative privileges remain confined to the assigned machine.

  • Controlled network traffic

We restrict firewall rules to the ports and traffic directions the scenario requires. Before launch, we define the rules for communication between machines, internet access and public exposure of services.

  • Data intended for exercises

We load only the agreed materials and data into the environment. Where data comes from production systems, we recommend anonymising it first or replacing it with a suitably prepared test dataset.

/ SPECIFICATION AND PRICE

Example training machine configuration

We size compute, disk space and network topology to the load expected in the exercise scenario. The profile below shows an example set of resources for a high-spec training workstation or an isolated test environment. The price covers the allocated resources, setting up the workstation, handing over access and support throughout the booking period.

/ QUESTIONS BEFORE BOOKING

What to know before you book

What information do you need to prepare a training environment?

To prepare an initial proposal, all we need is the dates, the number of participants and a list of the technologies involved. Before we start configuring the environment, we confirm the details: operating system, required software, machine specification, network topology and access method.

Can the instructor test the training environment before the class?

Yes. We first prepare a reference workstation, on which the instructor runs through the training scenario with exactly the same permissions a participant will have. The test covers, among other things, how the software works, access to materials, network communication and how participants sign in. Once the agreed feedback has been addressed, the approved configuration becomes the template for all the other workstations.

Do participants need to install any additional software?

Usually not. The remote desktop runs in the browser, and for SSH you can use the standard client that comes with the operating system. The training software itself runs on the remote machine. Before the class, we recommend a short test from the computer and company network that will actually be used, to confirm that your security policies do not block the connection.

Can you prepare a training environment for a larger group?

Yes, provided sufficient resources are available on the planned dates. We do not set a fixed limit on the number of workstations: what is possible depends on the machine specification, the environment topology, the length of the booking and the type of workload. For a larger group, we also allow enough time to test the reference workstation, create the machines and check that they are ready before access is handed over.

Can we use our own materials, repositories and other resources?

Yes. We can place source code, instructions and other training materials on the reference workstation or in an agreed shared location. Before the materials are handed over, we agree on how they will be accessed, any licensing requirements and the rules for handling data and credentials. Data from production systems should be anonymised beforehand or replaced with a test dataset, and any tokens and accounts used should be limited to the scope and duration of the training.

What happens to the environment after the training?

When the booking period ends, we deactivate participant accounts and switch off access to the environment. Any files or data that need to be kept are exported, within the scope agreed in advance. We then delete the machines along with all their contents.
